About University Relations
The mission of the University Relations division is to build enduring relationships, resources, and understanding that enable UC Santa Cruz to provide educational opportunities, create knowledge, and transform lives.
Established in fall 1999, the University Relations (UR) division includes five units: Comunications & Marketing, Donor Relations & Development Programs, Government Relations, Strategic Philanthropy, and Operatons & Planning. These units work together to provide integral support of UC Santa Cruz through coordinated communication, relationship-building, and fundraising activities.
In November 2007, Vice Chancellor Murphy discussed her goals for University Relations. Vice Chancellor Murphy’s goals are the guiding principles used in each units' strategic and budget planning effort:
- Raise national visibility and reputation of UCSC.
- Double current fundraising in 3-5 years.
- Divisional performance will be highly professional; all processes and activities executed like a well oiled machine.
