Vice Chancellor's Office

Under the leadership of Vice Chancellor Mark Davis, the University Relations Division at the University of California, Santa Cruz, is comprised of 8 leadership units: Development, Government and Community Relations, Communications and Marketing, Constituent and Donor Engagement, Innovation & Business Engagement Hub (IBE Hub), Alumni Engagement, Information Management, and Operations and Finance. Alumni Engagement

The Alumni Engagement unit oversees a comprehensive alumni engagement plan for UC Santa Cruz.  We build meaningful and mutually beneficial lifelong relationships with UC Santa Cruz alumni for the purpose of promoting philanthropy, mobilizing for advocacy and providing opportunities to UC Santa Cruz and its students. (See org chart here)

Innovation & Business Engagement Hub (IBE Hub)

The UC Santa Cruz Innovation & Business Engagement Hub (IBE Hub) is the point of entry for industry partners to connect with discoveries, innovation, resources, and talent. The IBE Hub team facilitates comprehensive relationships and coordinated engagement across campus academic, research, administrative, and business units as well as the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem based on corporate areas of interest and strategic opportunities. 

Communications and Marketing

The Communications and Marketing unit presents and interprets UC Santa Cruz, its achievements and aspirations in a consistent manner through visual, electronic and written media and verbal communications that enhance its reputation and inspire the support of core constituents. Media relations, marketing, branding and visual standards, university-wide web pages including the home page and News & Events pages, and constituent communications are among the unit’s areas of responsibility. Government and Community Relations

The Government and Community Relations unit serves as the primary liaison between campus and government agencies and officials at all levels to facilitate dialogue and information sharing in a timely manner. The unit also works proactively with city and county officials, community groups, and local organizations to bridge town-gown relationships and increase partnership opportunities. (See org chart here)

Constituent and Donor Engagement

The Constituent and Donor Engagement unit focuses on engaging and inspiring University donors, key alumni, and other friends through impactful events, communications, early donor experiences, and stewardship. Areas of responsibility include Donor Relations and Development Communications, Executive Engagement, Prospect Development, Annual Giving, Leadership Annual Giving and University Events. (See org chart here)


The Development unit includes regional, major and principal gifts, planned giving, and foundation relations. The unit's focus is on building high-level, personalized relationships with prospective donors to attract philanthropic investments that strengthen and advance campus initiatives and priorities. (See org chart here)

Information Management

The Information Management unit is comprised of Information Services, Data Management, and Gift Administration.  Information Management is the key service provider and partner to University Relations, alumni, and donors and the entire UCSC campus. We provide insights and information through reports, we accept and process gifts and we maintain key data sets which aid the much successful efforts of the development and alumni relations teams to build and maintain relationships that result in support for the university. (See org chart here)

Operations & Finance

The Operations and Finance unit supports the University Relations Division by assisting in hiring, training and retaining outstanding staff, advising and assisting in managing UR resources (human, financial and space/environment), and ensuring UR staff are safe, comfortable, and productive in their work. (See org chart here)
